Getting Help#

Our team’s primary goal is to help you complete your research with our computing and storage environments. We provide support through a combination of Northwestern IT help tickets and scheduled consultations.

It’s best to submit your request through just one option below. Our teams will coordinate and pass your request to others if needed. Duplicate requests hinder our ability to help you most effectively.

Quest#

To report an issue with Quest, or get help troubleshooting a specific issue, email quest-help@northwestern.edu to create an Northwestern IT Help Ticket.

To schedule time with a computational consultant to talk about your code or workflow, request a consultation .

To request software be installed on Quest, fill out the software request form .

Genomics Compute Cluster (GCC)#

To report an issue with Quest, or get help troubleshooting a specific issue, email quest-help@northwestern.edu with genomicsshare in the subject line to create a Northwestern IT Help Ticket.

To get help from others in the GCC community, join the GCC Slack space at genomics-rcs.slack.com .

Other Computational Resources#

To discuss getting access to national compute resources or research computing needs not met by Quest, request a computational consultation .

Globus#

To report an issue with Globus, or get help with using Globus, email globus-help@northwestern.edu to create an Northwestern IT Help Ticket.

RDSS#

Check out the RDSS Troubleshooting Guide for answers to common problems.

To report an issue with RDSS, email rdss-help@northwestern.edu with the following information:

Name of the share name/file path you are trying to access
Your operating system version
What are you trying to do? Have you been able to do it previously or is this your first attempt?
What are you unable to do? If applicable: what type of error are you getting? Including screen shots is very useful.

Research Data Management#

For assistance with or questions about data storage options, data transfer, data security, or data workflows, request a consultation with a data management specialist or email researchdata@northwestern.edu with your question.

Research Computing and Data Services (RCDS) partners with the Office for Research, University Libraries, and Galter Health Sciences Library to provide research data management support throughout the research process. Please see the Research Data Management and Sharing website for more information.

Data Science, Statistics, and Visualization#

For help with data science, programming, statistics, AI, or data visualization challenges in your research, regardless of the system you’re using, request a consultation with our staff and student consultants.
